Recording
The Biological Records Centre holds records on Orthoptera and allied insects collected
over decades by many dedicated recorders. The aim of the Orthoptera of the British
Isles Recording Scheme is to continue collating records of Orthoptera and allied
insects but through on-line recording. This information will be used to monitor
the abundance and distribution of these species and assess changes. All records
are made publicly available via the NBN Gateway
after validation and also appear on the species accounts.
The scheme welcomes records from everyone and you can use the
Online Recording Form to submit details of your sightings. While all records are of
interest, if you are able to attach a photo to your record this enables our experts
to verify your sighting.
In addition, recorders conducting site surveys can use the
Survey Form to report their findings. If you would like to be involved in
doing surveys for the scheme, please contact the scheme organiser.
