Labidura riparia

Status: Occasional casual introduction.

Description: Largest European earwig.

Size: 25 - 30 mm.

Wings: Yes.

Food: Partly carnivorous.

Habitat: Native to Central and in particular Southern Europe. The Giant Earwig lives on sandy coasts and riverbanks, where it builds tunnels in wet sand or hides under refuse, including land fill sites.
