Ectobius pallidus (Olivier, 1789)

Status: British Isles native species.

Description: Distinctive golden brown colour. Pale with black eyes.

Size: 8 – 9.5 mm

Wings: Both sexes are fully winged and capable of flight.

Food: Omnivorous.

Habitat: Native to UK, Central and Southern Europe. Lives in woodland, heathland and meadows, usually among leaf-litter, but can sometimes also be found in trees.

Phenology: Two year life cycle with six nymphal instars. Adults are present from late June until October and even November. Nymphs overwinter in the fourth instar resuming development in April.
