Taxonomy:

Status: British Isles native species.
Description: Brightly coloured, usually green and brown with red on the abdomen. Gently incurved pronotal keels. White line and elongated spot (stigma) on the forewing.
Stridulation: Short, pulsating, metallic rasp – characteristic ‘wheezing’ hiss.
Habitat: Grasslands on chalk and limestones, heaths and some dune systems.
Phenology: Nymphs appear in May, adults from mid-July onwards surviving until October.
